The Portland Chamber Ensemble

For the Portland Chamber Music Festival MARGINI UNO (2010) for piano quartet

We open our 23rd season with the effervescent Beethoven Clarinet Trio featuring clarinetist Todd Palmer (a frequent guest of the Festival) and the PCMF debut of Diane Walsh, a world-renowned pianist who moved to Portland in 2014. Following a charming piano quartet by Carla Magnan of Italy — the winner of our 9th international Composers Competition — our opening night concludes with the Quintet in G major by Brahms, a celebratory masterpiece of the chamber music repertoire.

Program: Beethoven  Trio for Clarinet, Cello and Piano in B flat major, Op. 11 Todd Palmer, clarinet; Peter Stumpf, cello; Diane Walsh, piano

Carla Magnan  Margini Uno (Composers Competition Winner) Diane Walsh, piano; Anna Lim, violin; Christine Grossman, viola; Trevor Handy, cello

Brahms   String Quintet No. 2 in G major, Op. 111 David McCarroll and Jennifer Elowitch, violins; Becca Albers and Christine Grossman, violas; Peter Stumpf, cello
